My Story: Journey To Becoming A Personal Finance Coach

My journey into the financial industry began during my undergraduate career at Aquinas College.  My initial educational goal was to earn a B.S. in Biology (which I did) and continue on a path to become an M.D. specializing in Dermatology.  I really enjoy science and serving others, especially women.  At the age of 20, my well-planned vision shifted after I gave birth to my little girl.  Although bringing her into this world is and will always be one of the best moments of my life, it was also the financially lowest moment of my life.  The day I snapped my little bundle of joy into her car seat and said farewell to the amazing nurses at the hospital, she and I arrived home with $0 in my savings account.  I spent every penny I earned prior to her birth on necessities and cost of living.

As I write this blog post, tears are running down my face because I remember vividly a phone call I made to a close family member.  I asked her for a small personal loan and would pay her back in 8 weeks when I return to work.  I knew she had the disposable cash but I heard the immediate reluctance in her voice and she eventually told me no.  It was that moment I knew that this was a low that I never wanted to experience again.  And I also realized that it is up to me to gain control of this situation and once I did, I will tell my story.  I will make it my personal mission to educate, empower, and assist other individuals to dig themselves out of their financial trenches and attain financial stability.

When I returned to college one month postpartum, I enrolled in a plethora of Finance courses.  I was determined to place the necessary tools under my belt to serve other young, ambitious individuals in my generation to become financially stable.  Not only do I have an extensive education, I have real-life experience.  To date, I have been financially stable for over 6 years, paid off over $30,000 in auto loan debt, and currently paying off the remainder of my student loans (with great momentum)!

I created the YPP blog so I can share my story, my financial knowledge, and my real-life experiences in a way that will inform and inspire you to attain financial stability, pay off debt, build up your savings account, and build wealth.  Every blog post is written with the intent to serve you and propel you towards attaining your financial goals.

All the Best,
